GE Hydrowave with the 4.1 CF tub

by P. Goodin
(Heath, OH USA)

Have had my washer for about 3 months and am not convinced it is all that great. The washer stops completely when the lid is open so it is really hard to tell what is really going on in there. With the largest load setting the drum fills 1/3 with water. All the clothes are wadded together at the bottom of the drum, much like if you set a regular washer on the small load setting and then filled it to the rim with clothes.

How can that be gentle on your clothes? The load selector does not turn as the cycle advances the only thing you have to tell you what is going on in the machine are the lights. If you change a setting after you start a load I believe the whole cycle starts over, but I am not completely sure. A

lso not sure the clothes are actually getting clean as I have had a few minor spots that didn't come out using the most vigorus agitation I could use.

The owners manual does not help me understand the functions of this machine either. All in all...I wish I had continued to shop or maybe saved my big $$$'s I spent for this machine and bought a frontloader.

Then I could at least SEE what the machine was doing.

GE Hydrowave washer is a joke
by: Anonymous

I have had this washer for 3 months & it is the worse machine I've ever bought. Does not cover the clothes with water no matter what size load you set it on. What good is the 4.1cf tub when it won't fill up with water. It doesn't agitate fast enough to clean anything. It just slowly moves the clothes back and forth. GE should be ashame for even selling a washer like this. It is suppose to be a energy saving washer. There's no way when you have to rewash the clothes 2 or 3 times to get them clean. I hate this washer & would not recommend it anyone.

So Frustrated
by: Anonymous

This is the worst washing machine I have ever encountered. Clothes do not get washed...even when you use the highest level of water and they come out with residue all over everything. The clothes look awful. If I run the clothes through again without any soap it helps. Double the power and double the work. I sooo regret buying this machine

BEWARE
by: Anonymous

Do not buy this washer. Huge tub but you can only fill it up to low level or your clothes will come out dirtier than when they went in. Motor went 2 months after I purchased the washer and it took one month to get another motor in to replace it. I can't wait to get rid of it but I wouldn't feel right about selling it to someone else. May just give it away and buy another washer. Does not do a good job washing clothes either. Many times clothes come out with spots on them. Very sorry I purchased this. Am going back to the old washers bought a Kenmore from Sears and it lasted 15 years.

don't buy

Many times some clothes will come out dry because there is not enough water. Hand wash speed is the same as regular. I usually use the speed cycle other cycles take too long. The swooshing sound is not quite.

I regret buying this machine!

Don't waste your money on this machine. It doesn't give you clean clothes, heck sometimes when I take the load out I still have dry spots. I really wish I would of looked into the reviews more before purchasing this. The clothes come out still smelling dirty, there's white spots on them, and sometimes they are still dry. The only way to get a good smelling clean load is to load it with a small load and set it for a large load. Hardly energy efficient if you ask me!

Do not waste your moeny
by: Pamela

After the first machine was delivered I messed with it for 2 hours trying to wash a load of clothes. It beeped and spit water the entire time but would never wash. I called the GE answer line and the tech was unable to diagnose the problem. She was very nice and scheduled service for 5 days later ( my clothes were dirty THEN). Best Buy was very helpful and delivered another machine and it did the same thing!! It took 59 minutes of spitting and beeping to get enough water to wash and then it promptly drained before doing anything else. As the previous reviewer mentioned, the machine stops when you open the lid so you really cannot tell what is going on.. GE deserves a big thump on the head for this one.....

if you buy one of these make sure you get extended warranty. the motor , the heart of the system is covered p and l for 1 year only. mine lasted 14 months and the part alone is 225$. also, reviews indicate this washer problematic, wouldn't buy another.

I have had my washer for two months and I am absolutely certain it's not getting my clothes clean! I hate it. How can a machine be called energy efficient when it takes running one load through two or three times to get the dirt out?
Don't buy this one.
