GE Dryers Consumer Reviews
Having a dryer in your home is almost a necessity today. In the distant past, it was a luxury and most people just hung their clothes out on the line to dry which was always a real challenge during the rainy months.
Of course, just because having these dryers has become more important than ever does not mean choosing one is going to be easy.
If you’re in the market, you might want to consider the GE line. You can learn more about the company’s long history and its dryer products below.

GE Dryers
As with many of the other largest manufacturers of dryers, GE has a wide range of models available to fit the needs of consumers. Both electric and gas models are available from the company.
Four stackable washer/dryer combination units are also made by the company: two use gas and the other two use electric power. Also, a line of so-called portable dryers are sold through GE. Three versions are available: all three are electric units only.
GE Portable Dryers
The biggest advantage of choosing the portable dryers is their size. All three have a total capacity of only 3.6 cubic feet which almost half the size of the average household dryer. The most expensive of these models – at a cost of $600 – is considered compact. While the two other models in this category cost about $30 less, they also have more timed drying options than the more expensive models. However, the latter does include a few different settings, such as permanent press. The two cheaper models are also designed to perform with less noise. All three can be combined with a portable washer to form a stackable unit.
GE Stackable Dryers
If you want a stackable unit that has been put together for you already, you do get the option of choosing either gas or electric. Two different price options are available but in both cases the gas model costs about $50 more than its electric counterpart.
All four are designed to run quietly and have a variety of cycles to choose from so you have more control over your laundry needs. The more expensive models also include built-in bleach dispensers. Prices for these units range from $1,219 to $1,319.
GE Profile Dryer
While the selection for the stackable and portable units may seem thin, you will shocked by the choices available for the full-size electric dryers. Around thirty different models, colors, and styles are available from the company. At the high end is the $1,349 Profile dryer with a capacity labeled colossal at 7.5 cubic feet.
This unit is full of unique features, including special cycles for pet bedding, antibacterial drying, and steam drying. Special settings for delicates and wrinkle-free options are also included on the model. Speed dry, timed dry, and five levels of dryness are also available so you have more choices than you probably know what to do with when it comes to drying your clothes. For consumers on a budget, the $340 GE model has a good size 5.8 cubic foot capacity, as well as timed drying and auto drying options. Fewer settings and heat temperatures are available on this model as well.
GE Gas Dryers
If you thought GE offered a lot options for electric dryers, you’ll be surprised to see about the same amount of options available for gas units. The reason is that almost every model available for electric power is also offered for gas. However, the price is a bit higher. That’s good news for renters and homeowners who don’t have much say in which source of energy they can use for their dryers.
The other nice thing about GE dryers is the wide range of color choices. The high end dryers come in vermillion red, dark platinum, metallic red, and metallic silver. However, if you spend less than $900 on your dryer, you’ll be most likely to have only one option: white.
Another interesting feature of the matching Profile line of GE washers (those at the top of the price range) is that they can hold multiple months of laundry detergent so you don’t have to pour it in every time you do a load.
