Did you forget to remove the clothes after a wash cycle?

by KathyB

Never fear - you won't have to throw them all out!! Just start the washer for another cycle but this time instead of using any detergent or fabric softener, use a cup of plain white vinegar. Nothing else. Let the wash/rinse cycle finish and your clothes should not have any musty or mildewy odor. The vinegar scent will probably make you wrinkle your nose but believe me, it doesn't hang around. If it worries you, do one more cycle with your regular detergent and fabric softener. But this time remember to remove the clothes from the washer at the end of the cycle!

Great Idea
by: brittney

I always seem to forget my laundry. I start it and then the kids need help with something and I forget all about it. I had never heard of this before, and I felt like I was always wasting laundry detergent. Thank you so much for this tip. Now when I forget, I won't use so much detergent.

Useful Tip
by: Theresa

This is a great tip. I shared this advice with some friends and family and they also agreed that it worked for them. It's really good to know that if I get busy and forget to take the clothes out of the wash that my clothes can be saved and that the fresh smell can be restored.

Thanks for the tip!

Vinegar does the trick!
by: Anonymous

I agree with your great tip! My grandmother taught me this years ago along with many other great uses for vinegar. In fact, she used to pour vinegar over my head in the bathtub in order to make my hair shiny. Vinegar.......a super-cheap product that can be a miracle worker in your home!!
