The entryway or the mudroom of the house provides unique challenges of its own. It is the place which sees the most traffic in the entire house. Often it can be used as a dumping ground for a variety of different things. The clutter isn’t so easily hidden unlike the closet. First make your mind up what you want in this area. Things like shoes, coats, sports equipment and toys more often than not find their way into the entrance. Putting an array of hooks and boot pads in this area serves to reduce the clutter. Tools and shovels can be put on racks for easy access or hung on the wall. This helps keep the walkway clear. It could be useful to have a smaller basket to put the smaller tools so you can easily carry them to the garden. You could even make a locker for each member of the family to store theret things they want to get at easily. Just let them know everything that everything that doesn’t fit in the locker has to be placed somewhere else in the home.
