Carpet

I have found that rubbing alcohol works wonders on stains on carpets. Test for color fastness first. Pour a little rubbing alcohol on the stain and blot with a clean white cloth. The stain disappears.

Alcohol for other stuff
by: Anonymous

Alcohol is wonderful on carpet! It also removes "permanent" marker ink also. i.e. if you use a "permanent" market to write on a DVD and make a mistake, you can easily wipe it off with an alcohol soaked paper towel.

Alcohol
by: Pamm

This may be a good stain remover tip, using Alcohol for stains, but...remember that Alcohol is flamable and must be used with caution! This could be a dangerous method if not used with caution!

Alcohol for carpet stains.
by: Faizan

Alcohol really does work for all types of hard stains, but it does leave a recognizable dull mark on dark-coloured carpets, and a faint smell lingers over the carpet for a period of 1 or 2 months.

I've done this too and it usually works well, especially if you get to it pretty quickly. We inhereted some pretty bad carpet with our house and it doesn't really help with those old stains (and I've used the steam cleaners a few times). I did manage to get out a couple with Oxi-Clean
