Bosch Washing Machine WFMC640SUC/07

by Jay P.
(North Brunswick, New Jersey)

Bought this FL washer to replace a still-working Whirlpool thinking that newer machines would do a better job, consume less energy and less water. This machine does not wash whites well at all. Brand new undershirts and white cotton socks will be gray after 3 or 4 washes in spite of different detergents, bleaches, etc.

When complained, we were told that they could not do anything as long as the machine is working. We bought extended warranty which is also useless. The company does not stand behind its products. I would not recommend any Bosch products. Wish still had the 20-year old Whirlpool!

Doesn't wash or rinse properly
by: Anonymous

HE does not mean More Efficient, it means LESS WATER. Any 5th grader can tell you that dirt/soap dilutes with water!!
These machines are horrible. I have to add water with a pitcher and wash loads at least twice. I have actually taken out a load of sheets only to find a portion of one NOT EVEN WET.
Horrible machine and I'm stuck with it. I will never buy another Bosch product.

Buy Something Else
by: Dave

Piece of JUNK!!! JUNK I tell you...

The only reason the sales people are pushing these is because of the higher commission thats why they're so expensive. I think personally someone should sue Lowes for misleading the public in buying this shit!!

First it takes and 1 1/2 hours to wash anything that normally would take 40 - 50 minutes and i agree with the other guy - if you want to wash it better add a bucket of water and also open the door every ten minutes to untangle the clothing.. This washer is a a piece of shit and you would be better of buying an Amana with the normal dials, the dryer is also no better from Bosch - I've noticed an increase in my energy bills and dirtier clothes thanks to these two .. aren't there any sanitary guidelines and standards for machines that clean clothes in this country?

I want a refund... or exchange...

Consumers Know

It is always better to hear from people using the machines verses the sales staff on the floor making commissions and simply trying to sell machines. Great to hear this info and will likely scratch Bosch off my list.

Bosch "STINKS"
by: Steve

I purchased a new top of the line Bosch washer and dryer one year ago. It takes forever to wash a load and it does not get your clothes clean. Also the spin cycle does not dry the clothes, you can ring water out of them when they are done. The dryer does not dry your sheets or blankets. They just ball up in a little knot and you have to take them out every little bit and straighten them up. DO NOT BUY A BOSCH WASHER OR DRYER......

Bosch washer stinks!
by: Anonymous

I absolutely HATE the Bosh 500 series washer. Takes 1-2 hours to complete a cycle. Everytime I put a load in, big or small, the E02 flashes on the screen and I have to open the washer and rearrange the clothes for it to finish a cycle.
I wash bathroom rugs and it will not spin them-they are always SOAKING WET! I have been married for over 32 years and had several washers and NEVER had one this bad! The price was outrageous and it stinks!! There is no separate spin cycle.

I think there should be a suit against Bosch- highway robbery!!

I went back to the good old fashioned top loader and couldn't be happier!!!!!

This Unit Has to Go
by: Anonymous

Had a friend tell me how she loved her unit. Saw it on sale as a floor model and bought it. My Whirlpool was still working but figured this would save dollars and water. I have had it since October and I hate it. It vibrates terrible as it spins and yes we have adjusted the feet and DH made pads to keep it from walking out the door. It smells and I am not buying "smell" remover tablets to wash out a wash machine that is suppose to wash clothes. I have left the door open to control that problem. It does not wash the clothes properly. My whites are turning gray and the other items are getting beat to death. I am out to get another machine with an agitator. The newer items item might be declared HE but they don't mention about how well they clean because this person knows first hand that they don't. Oh, we have noticed some rashes on our bodies also and it is just because the machine isn't cleaning properly. No, I am not using too much detergent. Anyone need a machine?

How to make this Bosch Machine work for you
by: Mary-Anne

I also was brainwashed into thinking I was buying a "great Energy saving machine" as it uses less water.
Right there, I should have been alerted. I also bought that extended warranty for like 7 or 10 yrs.(can't wait for it to break!)
First- to make the machine clean your clothes you must put the detergent inside the machine with your clothes, and just forget about the "HE special detergent" as it doesn't clean the clothes. Use the regular detergent. Turn the machine on & let it fill with water, when it stops filling, fill an additional bucket with water & pour it in through the top reservoir. The machine does not fill up with enough water to ever wash your clothes. You need suds to clean the clothes & if you pack the machine, then all it does is press the clothes together on top of each other as they do this "slow" round spin one way, then stops & goes the other way. Yes, I used to have an "Amana Speed Queen" that really did the job and agitated the clothes to get clean. This Bosch is very disappointing. The stains, hairs, lint that may be on the clothes before washing (no matter how much I pre-treat)they are still there when they come out. Most times the clothes come out all in one huge knot & can't be untangled. If I wash a "special" blouse on gentle, when its done & I take it out, it is soaking wet as it didn't spin properly, the technician that came out said I couldn't wash just one thing, can you imagine that? I never had this problem in my top loader "Amana". Several times I too noticed somewhat rashes on myself, so thinking that the clothes weren't clean I would press the extra rinse button. To get the white clothes white, the bleach needs to be poured directly into the top reservoir along with some "oxydol", the soap put into the drum with the clothes & an additional bucket of water through the top reservoir as well.
I also can't believe the length of each wash, the technician could not believe it when I told him it took 1 hour & 1/2 to wash clothes, so he had to call the 800# to confirm it & yes, they told him the same. My old machine would have it done within 50 minutes, so you think you will be saving water, yet you use twice as much electricity washing with this machine.
I would not recommend this machine to anyone!!
Stick to the regular machine with the "old fashion" agitator, that's my next machine again!!!

Prone to breakage
by: Anonymous

Purchased in 2007 for our new home, with an extended warranty and so glad we did. Gasket broke down three times.

Recently saw a water leak in the basement. Traced it to the Bosch Washing machine- one of the water regulating gadget had broken down and water kept on dripping causing damage to the security system.

It can be a good machine if it is not so prone to breakage.

doesn't wash!!!
by: Anonymous

I am extremely disappointed in my Bosch front loader. I purchased this model (nexxxt 500) because it was recommended by consumer magazine last year. What a terrible machine. It leaves my sheets and towels dirty despite the hottest and LONGEST setting. Don't know what I will do....hope for a major malfunction and pitch it!!
