I use cold water to wash all of my clothes as well. It really saves money and power. I have been doing this for a few years now and my clothes remain in great shape :)

I use cold water detergent also, and it works just as good as anything else I have tried. It is highly effecient and the cost savings are amazing. The bottle will easily pay for itself.

i agree, it's simple things like this and taking shorter showers that can save money and help out in little ways. More people should know about things like this since they assume the hot water is necessary!

I was always washing whites on the HOT setting on my washing machine, but recently a friend told me that wahsing everything on the COLD setting is actually better.
The whites come out just as clean as they did before, but now I'm saving on electricity by not having to heat the water. Also, you don't have to buy all of those stain treatments. A simple mixture of vinegar and baking soda on a stain has saved many of my shirts.
